RE: internet access with cell phone and tether

likely system traffic on the tower, TOO BUSY
try updating the PRL on your phone, dial *228 and choose option 1, your phone will be programed with the latest PRL for the area you are in

RE: Smartphone?? Blackberry??

I love the xv6900 ( but NO wifi ), and may flash it and switch back to using it, on the $30 plan, once I have time to set down and re-search the flashing again,
I already bricked one phone when the flashing process did NOT complete
i'm nor wanting that to happen again

RE: How many pic's fit on a DVD?

total number is a mute point., you have to burn the DVD, which means you can't add any more later, DO you intend to save 600 ( 7meg) pictures on your hard drive before you burn the DVD. or 1200 (3meg) pictures, or some combination there OF ?
if you have a dvd burner that supports DVD RAM disc's, then you can add them like a floppy, but that disc will not be viewable except on another PC with dvd RAM disc support

RE: Smartphone?? Blackberry??

Now to get off a rant here but the Blackberry is not the end all of smart phones anymore. Do a Google and read the reviews. The new Blackberry Storm did not match up to the iPhone and they both can be had for the same price now.
I never was said it, the be all end all, i have never been a crackberry addict,
and so far i prefer win mobile devices
the iphone has the best 'touch operated' web browser
but the iphone falls to the wayside, when comparing web security/communcation features, or some other smart phone functions
( my LG Dare has a better camera & MMS functions )
the BB's as a whole, have the best and most secure email and messaging OS of all smart phones.
your work needs and your play needs/desires, should be your guide, when buying a smart phone.

RE: Mobile internet

"preferred roaming list"
a file the phone downloads from your 'carrier', that dictates where it can connect,
IE a list of towers, since towers are added and equipment modifications are and continuous on going process, doing a *228 the choose option (1)
to re-program the phone ( update the PRL )
you should do this whenever you are staying in a verizon coverage area and have a good signal ( like on a grocery run into town ) or what ever, often improves your reception, by 'allowing; your phone to connect to a tower it would other wise NOT acknowledge

RE: Mac tethered to a laptop and cellphone for internet access

USB cords are NOT computer or OS specific, you have one for that phone, then the same cord will work with the Mac
the problem is more to do with
A: hardware driver? for the phone for the Mac
B: setting up the Mac to send to the correct protocol/security settings for AT&T
as said, should be doable

RE: Smartphone?? Blackberry??

smart phone is a generic term
for email and calendar sync, nothing beats a BB device
for web browsing, general email, and things like the camera, or video play back
I favor something like the HTC touch ( aka xv6900 ) or a phone like the dare
none of these devices is going to use 'palm' gestures, or 'screen script'
best thing is go into a verizon corp store and try out the different devices
the Storm looks great, and call quality is reportedly very good, but the current software is very buggy, the menu functions are slow , the phone lags, when waiting for the dial pad, and the camera is really slow operation
and yes, i'm testing one, it arrived last friday
it will be fantastic phone IF & when RIM & VZW issue an update fixing all the bugs, and there are a lot of them.

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

does the DW ever suggest that your RV is not so much for use as an RV as it is a MOBILE lab project, and perhaps you change the project 'platform' every few years because there is nothing left to do it ? ?

RE: Out of Level Refridgerator

I had a norcold in my 72 rv, that was happy and worked great, with out being 'that cautious'
absorption tech is over 100 yrs old, the original design was used in the first walk in meat lockers, that design had a totally different heating chamber, instead of the chimney type flue heater now use, and had to be perfectly flat to prevent HOT spots in the pan

RE: MP3 Conversion

I buy tunes online from the Apple store, and burn them to CD's. They play fine in my 99 Buick. I guess my computer (Vista) could be converting them somehow, not sure.
yes it is.. you choose 'music CD' for output and and vista converts the music to CD 'wav' tracks before compiling and burning
approx 70 min of music will fill a CD
mp3's files can contain as much as 10 hrs on (1)CD, if you use a low bitrate and high compression

but i am NOT and audioPhile and I do not keep an AAC audio collection, I do have some MP3 music for my phones and the DW phones, MY CD's are ALL std CD-wav? format. I really don't want many hrs ( up to 10hrs ) of music on one CD

RE: MP3 Conversion

many people convert to MP3 , so they can create mp3 CD-music data discs, that play in many auto stereos an on PC's
I may be , behind about audio devces, but i'm not aware of a consumer car stereo that plays AAC format from CD's

RE: Video Streaming Capture Software

any burn program will burn the captures file to a DATA dvd for storage and PC play back
to make/create a DVD formatted for TV/dvd player, playback, requires a conversion program
convertX-to-DVD is a good one, NOT free,
try www.videohelp.com for a list of conversion software
'imgageBurn' is the program I use to burn the DVD after I create the DVD image file
I think he want's to know how he can save a streaming video file he is watching on the screen. A norming burning program doesn't capture streaming media. It will burn a saved file, not a streaming file.
Can anyone recommend a software that I can copy streaming video, edit the content and then burn it to a DVD.
copy..edit..burn
thats (3) functions, and editing is a manual task, and then it has to be converted to the correct format before it is burned
